Future in Focus: Exploring College and Careers
CAAS students joined our Union Rep, Ms. Caquias, at a fair in Manhattan that exposed high school students to the world of college and careers. Presentations were given on an array of postsecondary opportunities and the benefits of work in organized labor. The students were given the opportunity to engage in these presentations and ask questions of current college students and young union workers.

"I'm not giving away my SHOT!"
50 CAAS students were fortunate enough to be part of a trip to see the Broadway sensation HAMILTON on December 14th. Thanks to the efforts made by our Social Studies department, CAAS was one of the few schools awarded tickets to see the exclusive play. All the students who were given the opportunity to attend completed a project in which they developed raps and poems related to their research of important figures/documents/events of the Revolutionary and Founding era. Our own Michael Jean was selected by the trip organizers to perform his piece to an audience of hundreds (see video below). The following pictures are a small document of the special day...

On December 9th, CAAS students enrolled in the Trio college preparatory program went on a college tour to visit SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Orange. Students were able to tour the campus, sit in a lecture hall, see the variety of dorm rooms and even eat at the Binghamton dining hall overlooking the ice covered mountains. It was amazing to witness our students see first hand where they could end up. College became real to them the moment they set foot on campus. Students were excited to tell their classmates about their experience and influence others to push themselves.
